Get to know our department! Each of our divisions plays a vital role in our mission to serve our community.
The Administrative Division serves in a support and leadership capacity to the rest of the department. The division consists of an office manager, an administrative assistant, a public relations officer, the assistant chief of police, and the chief of police.
The 巡逻部门 consists of 18 police officers certified by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and 教育. These officers conduct preventative patrol on foot, vehicle and bicycle. They are the core of the department and are the first line of defense for crime. Each officer must pass a rigorous background check and meet our high standards prior to an interview. Each officer has full law enforcement authority with powers of arrest.
The 社区 Engagement Division represents the A&移动商务 Police Department in community/law enforcement relationships. It is responsible for implementing and administering effective outreach programs and events for the students, 教师, 和A的员工&移动商务. 另外, the division liaises with student organizations and university departments to create a relational dynamic that facilitates communication, 交互, 参与, and an exchange of ideas between the A&移动商务 Police Department and the community it serves.
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating all crimes reported to the University Police Department. If you have any questions contact (电子邮件保护). The CID offices also provide crime victim assistance.
The 调度部门 is many people's first contact with the department when they are in need of assistance. Our dispatchers must also pass an intensive background check and receive four weeks of on-the-job training. The Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and 教育 certifies each dispatcher as a telecommunicator. These dedicated individuals work around the clock to monitor the department's 911 system and police radio.
The 安全部门 oversees the security of the university’s facilities. These officers must also meet the department's high standards for its employees. Each security officer must pass an extensive background check and receive eight weeks of intensive training upon hiring. The security officers have no arrest authority, but they do have the authority to issue citations.
The Crime Victims 服务 Coordinator will ensure that a victim, guardian of a victim, or close relative of a deceased victim is afforded the rights granted to victims, 监护人, or close relatives of deceased victims according to the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapters 56A and 56B. The Crime Victims 服务 Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and administering the Crime Victims Assistance Program for the University Police Department.
